* About the Mercantile *

The name "Mercantile" is one from days gone by and reflects back to a simpler time when everything you would ever need could be found in one store. A place where friends gathered and where new friends were made. Somewhere that would lift your spirits with fun and wonderful things. This view of an old town mercantile is the basis for our Old Town Mercantile.

In the 1940s the property was part of a 20-acre homestead that bordered the mining road extending from Twentynine Palms to Banning. In the 1950s the US Government purchased the land and in 1965 opened a beautiful new Post Office for Yucca Valley in the (then) downtown area. As Yucca Valley grew and developed further east, the post office moved and left their building. After a few changes in ownership and look it finally became home to the Old Town Mercantile and now sits proudly in the heart of Yucca Valley's Old Town district.
The building offers over 4,000sqft of sales space inside, has a 750sqft patio area and another 3,500sqft in an enclosed outside courtyard. Our dealers offer one of the finest selections of high end antiques, art, furniture, jewelry and collectibles in southern California. We are proud to have many of the best and most experienced dealers in the area and their talent and expertise becomes evident the minute you walk through the front door. The store is clean, bright and comfortable and the merchandise is presented without clutter. Our friendly staff will greet you at the door and assist you with a smile.
The Old Town Mercantile is located on the western end of Yucca Valley. From California Interstate 10 near Palm Springs take the Twentynine Palms Highway (Route 62) east up into Yucca Valley and you'll find us on the right side of the highway about a mile into town. We are located at the corner of the highway and Fox Trail, next to Old Town Antiques. We are open from 10am to 5pm daily and we only are closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas day.
